BIOME, the Philippine National Biodiversity
Meeting in Catanduanes Island and SEDTEC, National Conference on Science,
Education and Technology are held during the Catandungan Festival in October. These are being organized by Pacifictech
(Pacific Island Institute for Pedagogy, Technology, Arts & Sciences, Inc.) with
the support of the Provincial Government of Catanduanes through its Provincial
Tourism Office. Although dealing with a
variety of themes, the joint national scientific meeting originally stood for
the “Biodiversity Meeting in Catanduanes
Island, Philippines on Climate Change, Sustainable Development, Innovations,
Political Ecology and Social Representations in Nature Conservation” and
was organized for the first time in October 2010 (BIOME 1) and October 2011
(BIOME2-SEDTEC1). Hence, BIOME3 is being
held again during the 2012 Catandungan Festival together with SEDTEC2 dubbed as
the Philippine National Conference on
Water and Biodiversity (NCWB) on
22-23 October 2012.
